The Higher Education  Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA) has approved our
application for a grant to hire an intern for 400 hours in the summer of
2008. We are one of 20 to be approved out of more than 100 applications! The
grant award breaks out as follows:

Wages                      3800.00      400 hours @$9.50/hour
FICA                           290.70      7.65% of wages
Worker's Comp              38.00      1% of wages
Unemployment               38.00      1% of wages
Payroll start up               15.00       Enter employee on payroll
*Payroll Service                15.00*      Process fees for payroll.
Total Grant Award      $4196.70

The intern is scheduled to work from May 30 through August 31. The intern is
required to manage a program that can be started and completed during this
time frame. The program I outlined on the grant application is a voter
registration drive centered on homeless, formerly homeless and very low
income persons in the FM area. In addition, the intern will organize
candidate and issue forums and participate in the Aug. 08 Project Homeless
Connect.

The ideal candidate for the summer position will be a Political Science
undergraduate with a strong committment to social justice.
