*Organization Background.* APAC is a statewide organization of manufactured
(mobile) home park residents focused on education, leadership development,
and grassroots organizing. APAC serves as a tenant's union for park
residents in Minnesota. The organization's programs include community
organizing, legal advocacy, housing preservation, and public policy change.
APAC has also begun a program to promote resident leadership, organizing and
advocacy in other states, including North Dakota. Based in St. Paul, APAC is
hiring a community organizer for its new office in Moorhead to work with
residents and allies in the Fargo-Moorhead area.


*Primary Responsibilities.*

   -

   Conduct community organizing campaigns around resident-defined issues
   – such as park closings, cooperative conversions, or community improvements.
   -

   Outreach to residents through door-to-door leafleting and other
   methods.
   -

   Hold workshops to educate residents about their rights.
   -

   Organize new resident associations and promote leadership development.
   -

   Recruit new APAC members and encourage the formation of APAC chapters.
   -

   Network and form partnerships with low-income and affordable housing
   advocates, public agencies, faith-based organizations, etc.
   -

   Play a supporting role in public policy work and electoral organizing.
   -

   Advise and assist tenant hotline callers dealing with issues such as
   eviction and non-compliance notices, unreasonable management practices, etc.
   and look for patterns or trends that indicate new pressing concerns or
   issues in parks.
   -

   Be available for other tasks, including assisting in meeting and
   reporting on grant requirements that provide funding for your position,
   monthly staff reports, etc.


*Qualifications & Experience.*

   -

   *Required Skills*: Community involvement experience; commitment to
   social and economic justice; demonstrated ability to build partnerships,
   alliances and/or coalitions; strong interpersonal communication skills; can
   work as part of a team or independently and to take direction; able to
   organize tasks, manage time and prioritize projects; basic competency on
   personal computer systems; a valid drivers license; can work evenings/
   weekends and travel as needed; and able to perform periodic outdoor
   leafleting.

   *Strongly Preferred Skills*: Community organizing experience; fluent
   in Spanish; and experience working in diverse communities, particularly the
   Latino community.


*Salary and Benefits.* Annual salary of $26,000+ based on experience, with
twice monthly pay periods. As outlined in APAC's Employee Handbook, benefits
include health and dental coverage, ten paid holidays, ten vacation days,
ten sick days, and one additional personal day.
