Coalition Members,
Most of you have probably heard about the proposed MAT changes that will
adversely affect residents of Churches United for the Homeless.
*The public hearing on the changes is tonight at 7:15 in the Moorhead City
Commission Room, and we need people to express opposition to the reduction
of service to CUFH.*
CUFH needs more bus service, not less.
*Explanation of Changes*
The MAT bus has proposed some changes that would disparately impact those
that utilize services at Churches United for the homeless.
The proposed changes include ending service at 7pm and pick up/drop off
times one time per hour rather than every 30 mins.
With these changes, community members who travel to CUH for the evening meal
would need alternative transportation home if a transfer is necessary.
Additionally, getting to and from work would be even more challenging than
it already is. An example is, if you have to be at work at 8:00am, you may
need to be ready to leave by 6:00am in order to make the necessary
transfers. This poses an even greater hardship on those caring for
children. Twelve step meetings and other community resources may become
less accessible for those who cannot get back in time for curfew. If CUFH
needs anything from MAT, it is more service and not less. Here's how to
help:
A public hearing is scheduled on 3/17 at 7:15 in the Moorhead City
CouncilChambers on the first floor.
Moorhead City Hall is located at 500 Center Avenue. The more people
present to express concerns about the changes, the more likely it is the
changes will be reevaluated. Please consider attending this very important
meeting.
I hope to see you there.
*Please forward this email.*
