Media Alliance

The Media Alliance met on July 13th at PEPP at 9 AM

Present:
Rhonda Harrison, Lysa Ringquist, Tammie Yak, Amy Neel and Duke Schempp

The First Item on the Agenda was a discussion of Merging with the Media
Outreach group of the Waking the Sleeping Giant.

The group discussed that the Media Alliance has a specific focus on Media
and working with organizations on effective media and shared expertise.
The Waking the Sleeping Giant outreach groups focus was much broader than
the Media Alliance and the group discussed the benefit of keeping the two
groups separate.  It was decided to keep the Media Alliance separate as a
group process dedicated to media and to meet monthly on the second
Wednesday at 9 Am at PEPP.

The groups then discussed current Media.  There was discussion about the
Moorhead Human Rights Commission and a letter to the editor.  The group
discussed the power of a letter from the commission compared to a letter
from one individual from the commission.  We encouraged the building of
the allies needed to get a letter approved by the commission.  We also
discussed the Social Connextion and the 3rd year anniversary this August.

The group decided that we will have the opportunity for people to
facilitate the Media Alliance Meetings.  Each meeting will have a section
where the next facilitator is chosen and the Facilitator will meet with
PEPP staff prior to the next meeting to pan the agenda and do the outreach
for the next meeing.

The August meeting will be facilitated by Rhonda Harrison.  She will meet
with Duke to plan the agenda and remind people about the meeting.
